In-the-Canal (IIC/CIC/ITC/MIC)

Behind-the-Ear Hearing Aids in New Brunswick

Behind-the-ear hearing aids come with a wide, thin tube that runs over the top of your ear and into your ear canal. Modern behind-the-ear hearing aids are discreet as to be almost unnoticeable and feel light. This is the most common type of hearing device, and these can take away your daily hearing stress and help you become more active. Get your hearing aids and start noticing sounds and frequencies that you haven’t heard before. Argus Audiology can help you find the best-suited behind-the-ear / open-fit hearing aids for you.

RITE: Receiver-in-the-Ear

This style is best for mild to severe hearing loss. It is more discreet than the traditional BTE model. It rests behind the ear and uses a thin tube to send sound to the ear. Its advantages include better aesthetics, a lower risk of whistling, natural sound quality and a comfortable fit.

Hearing Aid

BTE: Behind-the-Ear

This type of hearing aid is best suited for those with mild to profound hearing loss. It is available in two styles (hook solution or thin tube). These hearing aids rest behind the ear and transmit sound to the ear using a thin tube.

Designer RITE: Receiver-in-the-Ear

These hearing aids are best for mild to moderate hearing loss. The design consists of a small, petal-shaped shell that sits in the shadow at the top of your ear. It is a nearly invisible sound tube that enters the ear canal, making it an extremely discreet yet non-traditional hearing aid.

In-the-Ear Hearing Aids in New Brunswick

In-the-ear style of hearing aids is the most widespread option you will come across. They are a comfortable choice as they are designed to fit the lower portion of your outer ear. Argus Audiology offers ITE hearing aids in New Brunswick to help you hear better. Our audiologists will first examine your condition and then recommend the best fit for you. In-the-Ear (ITE)

Why Opt For In-the-Ear Hearing Aids?

This style is best for mild to severe hearing loss. These hearing aids fill the concha of the ear. They take advantage of their shape and position to absorb sound from your surroundings to give you a clearer hearing. Also, as these hearing aids are deep-set in your ears, they allow you to use phones and headsets comfortably. The lack of tubes or wires makes it easier to use. These are custom-made to fit your ear, making them comfortable for you to use. You might not even realize you are wearing it.

In-the-Ear Hearing Aids

Getting your perfect fit for an in-the-ear hearing aid is simple with advanced laser technology.

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids are as small as an ear tip and sit in the outer portion of the ear canal. Depending on the size of the ear canal, the ITE hearing aid is relatively discreet.

When you are fitted for an ITE hearing aid, the shell of the hearing aid is custom-made to fit the shape of your ear. This shell contains all vital electronics and is great for on-the-go people who need their hearing aids to stay in place. ITE hearing aids are suitable for most types of hearing losses.

If you want an even more discreet hearing aid, the completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aids may be the solution.

A CIC hearing aid can fit deep inside the ear canal, making it almost invisible. CIC hearing aids are a great option if you have mild to moderate-severe hearing loss and are looking for a very small and discreet hearing aid.

These hearing aids are one of the smallest hearing aid models on the market. They use the ear’s natural shape to localize sound. A custom-made shell is made to fit deep into your ear canals, making it a virtually invisible hearing aid.

In-the-ear (ITE) hearing aids and completely-in-canal (CIC) hearing aids are fully automatic - so you can hear clear and natural sounds with minimal or no intervention.

Completely-In-the-Canal (CIC) or Mini CIC

A completely-in-the-canal hearing aid is moulded to fit inside your ear canal. It improves mild to moderate hearing loss in adults.

A completely-in-the-canal hearing aid:

  • Is less likely to pick up wind noise

  • Uses very small batteries, which have shorter life and can be difficult to handle

  • Often doesn't include extra features, such as volume control or a directional microphone

  • Is susceptible to earwax clogging the speaker

Behind-the-Ear / Open-Fit

In-the-Canal

An in-the-canal (ITC) hearing aid is custom moulded and fits partly in the ear canal. This style can improve mild to moderate hearing loss in adults.

An in-the-canal hearing aid:

  • Is less visible in the ear than in larger styles

  • Includes features that won't fit on completely-in-the-canal aids, but may be difficult to adjust due to its

  • small size
